Blepharoplasty or Eyelid Rejuvenation Surgery
The appearance of “tired eyes” with overhanging upper eyelid skin or excess skin and lower lid “bags” are usually excellent candidates for a blepharoplasty.
These procedures are commonly performed under local anaesthesia. Occasionally, drooping of the outer part of the eyebrow (brow ptosis) may contribute to this appearance and where necessary correction may be indicated.
Aggressive treatment by excision of excess upper eyelid skin alone for the treatment of tired eyes in the presence of brow ptosis is inadequate, counterproductive, and seldom leads to any marked improvement in the condition.
Chin Augmentation
Cosmetic chin surgery is an excellent option for anyone who feels that their chin is not well shaped in relation to the rest of their face. This surgery adds proportion to the chin and provides balance to other facial features.
Face Lift
This is a procedure that rejuvenates the ageing face. Facial ageing can be attributed to one or a combination of factors such as sagging of skin, loss of facial volume and changes in skin quality. Face-lift techniques have been modified and have improved considerably over the last few years. A face-lift is a powerful surgical tool to rejuvenate the face and to restore the effects of aging and gravity resulting in a more youthful appearance.
The main areas that a face-lift will address are the neckline and “jowls”. Patients seeking a youthful smooth neck and jaw line are very good candidates for a face-lift. Dr Hayes believes in a natural look when performing a face-lift, avoiding the tightly pulled look. Fat injections (rich in stem cells) and liposuction of the neck are common ancillary procedures performed at the same time of the procedure as an adjunct to restore fullness, contour and definition.
Neck Lift
A neck lift aims to correct the drooping skin and excess fatty fullness in the upper neck area below the jaw. This is often done in combination with a face lift operation if necessary. The techniques used vary from non-invasive skin tightening procedures, to submental liposuction to a neck lift.
Otoplasty or Ear Corrective Surgery
Prominent ears are sometimes a cause for concern for parents and patients.
Children are often teased at school with prominent ears and this can have negative psychological consequences.
The procedure is therefore more common in children that are in primary school.
The surgery is done under general anaesthesia for children and usually under local anaesthesia for adults.
Rhinoplasty
A “Nose-job”, is a procedure used to alter the shape, size and dimensions of a nose and to improve the overall appearance of the face.
These include procedures which reshape the nose by reducing or increasing its size, removing humps, changing the shape of the tip or bridge, narrowing the width of the nostrils, or changing the angle between the nose and upper lip.
Breathing anomalies are frequently corrected simultaneously.
